Technology is all around us and it is important that the pupils have a good understanding of this subject. It allows pupils to share their learning in creative ways which is why, where possible, it is important to continue to use technology across the whole curriculum. We aim to provide them with the key skills necessary to thrive in a modern society. However, we realise that online safety is key. Here, we want to educate the pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely in order to prevent future issues (for example, with social media).
To make sure that the computing curriculum is being covered across our school, we use the Rising Stars scheme. Specific units from each group will be taught to the children so that by the end of Year 6, they will have covered what is on the National Curriculum. Pupils will then apply what they have learnt in other subjects.
Children will leave Bisley C of E Primary School as confident users of technology and able to use it to accomplish a wide variety of goals, both at home and in school. They will have a secure and comprehensive knowledge of the implications of technology and digital systems. This is important in a society where technologies and trends are rapidly evolving.
