Support for Families

Bisley Support Helpline: Email - support@bisley.surrey.sch.uk or phone 07553 180384

What else can we offer as a school to support you during Covid-19?

Our pastoral/safeguarding team continues to be operational during school closure to offer support to families most in need. Many of you have received a ‘check in’ from one of our team if your family were already being supported by the Pastoral and Inclusion Team prior to the lockdown.

In some cases, support packs of materials linked to the programme they were doing in school will be sent home where your child was working with an adult to support them socially and emotionally in school. Please use these if they work for your family right now- they are not essential by any means, but there if they are helpful.

Referring for support and guidance- Our team including DSL Joolz Miles, Mental health First Aider Sarah Tidy, and our Pastoral Workers Chris Hunt and Amy Swan, are offering remote support for any family who might find they need it for any number of reasons. Annalisa Charman as SENDCO has also been in touch with families, and Liz Somerville as our ASD inclusion Lead can offer support where needed. Please make contact through the email support@bisley.surrey.sch.uk if you would like to make a referral or speak to them regarding your child or someone in your family unit.

Where a child has specific needs / concerns identified by their parent (eg high anxiety, mental health concerns) it may be that the pastoral worker speaks to and advises/ guides the parent, sends resources through to support, or signposts to other support services; at other times a child might engage remotely with the pastoral worker alongside their parent in a telephone or video call , (a young person’s suitability for distant support -via email/ video/ phonecall- will be assessed in this instance in conjunction with the parents) and of course parental consent and supervision during these sessions is required.

We can also signpost and offer support for parents and older siblings too, or signpost to agencies such as ‘Your Sanctuary’, CAP, Safe Haven, crisis line etc. We can offer support or signpost with subjects such as substance misuse, domestic violence, exploitation etc.

Foodbanks- Amy Swan coordinates our food bank and makes deliveries each Thursday. If your family need our support with the food bank, please contact her at a.swan@bisley.surrey.sch.uk . If you have donations and wish to leave them at school, please kindly bring them in during the normal school day to the bench outside the office, observing social distancing.

Seesaw- Please remind your children that they can let teachers know through ‘Seesaw’ if they have any worries / concerns. Teachers can send messages of encouragement this way, or if their worry is bigger, then the Pastoral Team will do their best to help and support.

Please do use the email support@bisley.surrey.sch.uk or phone 07553 180384 to keep us informed of any change to your family that we might be able to offer support with.
